Punta De Este is the permier resort for rich Argentines. The playground for the Buenos Aires jetset. No wonder given its beautiful and pristine beaches. Oh, I can undersand too if one takes a minute to look at the fancy prices. I think we were lucky in judging that a hotel near the bus station would be good value. Every other place was way over the top in raw dollar terms.

The first day was magnificient. Beautiful sunshine and calm skies. I figured that I would make a dip the following day. Jacky, as ever, was filming everything and I mean everything. I sometimes got irritated by it. I don't like pictures of me. I am the essence of anti-photogentic!

But this was a lesser irritation when I woke up the next day. It rained, it rained. It howled, it howled. I was pretty disappointed. Here I was in reputedly South America's finest beach resort and the weather was pants! It didn't let up. Moreover the place was deserted at night. There was absolutely no one around. Not in the restaurants, not anywhere. A ghost town, with designer shops!

Shame.
