ayuthaya

I ventured even further South to escape the rain but it kept up with me so much so that Ayuthaya resembled a marshland for the two days I was there. Ayuthaya was the ancient capital of Siam before they upped sticks and headed down to Bangkok. As such, it is full of old temples and the like. Many in a bad state I should add. But the rain obviously curtailed the opportunities I had to explore. My stay here could best be described as a transit stop.

My first hotel was a dreadful affair. Got bitten badly bed bugs and the like. So the next day I switched to a better place albeit more expensive. Ayuthaya is firmly on the tourist map so it had a bit of a nightlife unlike the previous place I had stayed. I met up with some French and Belgians who were sound. One being a professor and a very interesting bloke at that. He was my drinking partner for my time in Ayuthaya. A couple of live music venues and a nightclub kept me busy and content. But there was no escaping the fact that the rain did spoil things but it couldn´t be helped. At least my next bus journey would be a short trip. Next destination, Sin City itself.
